When Pregnancy Isn't Giving You That Glowing Feeling

Pregnancy can be meaningful and exciting, and it can also be emotionally intense. If you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, down, disconnected, or simply not like yourself, pregnancy support therapy can help. At Reproductive Mental Health & Wellness, we provide specialized pregnancy support therapy for clients across California through secure teletherapy. Our clinicians are trained in reproductive and perinatal mental health, including perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), pregnancy after loss, high-risk pregnancy stress, and birth-related trauma.

When Pregnancy Isn't Giving You That Glowing Feeling

What Is Pregnancy Support Therapy?

Pregnancy support therapy is mental health counseling focused on the emotional, psychological, and relationship challenges that can arise during pregnancy. This is not medical care and it does not replace your OB-GYN, midwife, or maternal-fetal medicine team. It is a dedicated space to process what you are carrying emotionally while you are carrying a baby physically.

Pregnancy support can help you feel more grounded, reduce distress, build coping skills, and prepare for the postpartum period with a clearer plan.

Who Pregnancy Support Is For

Pregnancy support therapy can be helpful whether you are early in pregnancy, approaching delivery, or navigating a complicated pregnancy journey. Many people seek support for:

  • Pregnancy anxiety, panic symptoms, or constant worry

  • Depression during pregnancy, low mood, or feeling emotionally numb

  • Intrusive thoughts, mental spiraling, or difficulty sleeping due to worry

  • Pregnancy after miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility, or fertility treatment

  • High-risk pregnancy stress and ongoing medical monitoring

  • Fear of childbirth, tokophobia, or prior birth trauma

  • Relationship strain, communication challenges, or family stress during pregnancy

  • Difficulty connecting with pregnancy or mixed feelings about becoming a parent

  • Regulate anxiety between appointments

  • Process fear, grief, or loss of control

Pregnancy After Loss or Fertility Challenges

If you experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility, or IVF and other fertility treatments, pregnancy can bring layers of emotion. Joy may be present, and so can guardedness, fear, grief, and hypervigilance. That combination is common and it makes sense.

Pregnancy support therapy can help you:

  • Process past reproductive loss while navigating current pregnancy

  • Reduce “waiting for the other shoe to drop” anxiety

  • Work with attachment concerns and emotional protectiveness

  • Build coping tools for milestones, ultrasounds, and triggers

  • Feel less alone in a pregnancy that may not feel simple

Reproductive Mental Health & Wellness was built specifically to support people through these nuanced experiences, not just general stress.

Pregnancy Support Therapy Through Teletherapy in California

We provide pregnancy support therapy via secure teletherapy for clients located in California. Teletherapy can be especially helpful during pregnancy because it reduces travel, makes scheduling easier, and allows you to attend sessions from a private space.

To receive services, you must be physically located in California at the time of your session, since our clinicians are licensed in California.

Why Choose Reproductive Mental Health & Wellness

Reproductive Mental Health & Wellness is focused specifically on reproductive and perinatal mental health. We are not a general therapy directory or a large tech-backed platform. We are a clinician-led practice built to support the realities of fertility challenges, pregnancy stress, pregnancy loss, postpartum mental health, and parenting transitions.

A Note From Our Practice

Many clients come to us after feeling misunderstood in general therapy spaces. Pregnancy support requires clinical familiarity with perinatal mental health, the emotional impact of medical care, and the unique stressors of pregnancy and family-building.
